My professional editing experience, like my writing experience, is divided between academic and non-academic roles. I served a two-year term as the Managing Editor for ASAGE (American Society for Aesthetics Graduate E-Journal), and stayed on as a consultant for years after. Currently, I’m the Premieres Editor at The Big Takeover and Editor-in-chief at Hump Day News.
I’ve worked with a variety of content management systems (CMS) over the years, including Textpattern, WordPress, Squarespace, Open Journal Systems, and Drupal.
The Big Takeover

In January 2025 I hopped aboard The Big Takeover as the Premieres Editor.
The bi-annual print music magazine, based in New York City, has been covering new and emerging artists since it started as a zine in 1980.
I look forward to maintaining a continuity of editorial focus in the role, breaking new music, and introducing some of my own aesthetic sensibility into the series. Expect about five premieres per week.
Have new music you want to get heard? PR can make submissions through the usual channels. Artists can link new music directly via this form.
Hump Day News
Founded in 2022, Hump Day News has quickly established itself as a nimble, prolific, and authoritative source for local news in the Boston area, specializing in local music coverage. In 2023 and 2024 the news site was nominated for Best Music Publication by the Boston Music Awards.
As editor I leverage my experience in music journalism to identify vital streams of coverage that were getting missed by other outlets. No one covers more local music than Hump Day News, through interviews, features, live reviews, video recaps, album and track reviews, photo galleries, festival previews, and Year In Review wrap ups.

ASAGE
In my two year term as Managing Editor at ASAGE (American Society for Aesthetics Graduate E-Journal), I was responsible for overseeing the entire pipeline from start to finish, establishing the editorial focus, soliciting submissions, recruiting and setting up payroll for contributors, liaising with the ASA Advisory Board to protect funding, designing the look and layout of the journal, and maintaining the necessary software and hardware to publish the quarterly academic journal.
At the time our content management system was Open Journal Systems (the journal has since moved to WordPress). I used this platform to manage almost every aspect of the publishing pipeline. During my tenure I updated the editorial focus, rejuvenated the aesthetic feel of the journal, standardized the range of content, and increased the visibility, reach, and profile of the premiere graduate aesthetic journals in North America.
Before my term as Managing Editor, I contributed to ASAGE as a Blind Reviewer and Author. After my term I remained in the picture and on the payroll as a consultant, with special attention to assisting on the technical aspects of online publishing. My work with ASAGE was truly a “soup to nuts” learning experience that taught me valuable lessons about online publishing that serve me to this day.
