Design

I’ve collected samples of my graphic design, photo, and video work for clients in academia, online arts & culture publishing, and sometimes just for fun.

I use visual design to delight, engage, and inform.

I’ve created the visuals below using a variety of software, including Canva, apps from the Adobe Suite (primarily Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, Premiere Pro), and Clipchamp for quick projects.

Phenomenology Research Group (PRG)

I created posters to market the PRG’s conference series from 2012-2016. The posters needed to catch the eye, communicate the essential event info, and give the viewer a preliminary sense of the academic topic. The first sample below advertises a philosophy workshop on the relation of body and space (Chicago, 2013).

Hump Day News / Hump Nights

I do a lot of visual design on behalf of Hump Day News, which includes promotional work for Hump Nights, the events wing of HDN. In partnership with artists, bookers, and venues across Boston, Hump Nights offers a fun local music quiz-based ticket giveaway to a slate of shows on a monthly basis. Ace the Quiz, Win the Tix! You can see typical social media blasts below.

Other types of visual design include sundry assets for sundry needs related to editorial features, contributor recruitment, and more.

Live reviews at Hump Day News almost always include a video recap, which seeks to provide a little flavor from the night of music. Sample a few here.

QRO Magazine

I designed visuals for different events and marketing campaigns at QRO Magazine from 2010-2012. The online music magazine sponsored music shows and needed promotional material to generate interest. The first sample below uses color, line, and images from painter Gerhard Richter to advertise a music show sponsored at the Northside Festival (NYC, 2010).

Online Publishing

ASAGE

From 2012-2014 I served as the Managing Editor of ASAGE, the American Society of Aesthetics Graduate E-journal. One of my many duties was conceiving the look and layout of the cover.

I inherited a drab design, which I abandoned after the the first issue of my four-issue run. I added color and cover art. I might have gone a little too far by Issue 6.1, but I thought it was important for a graduate journal to take a few chances.

Just for fun

Hump Day News

This one is just silly.
